According to Angang Group's statistics, the national stainless steel output in July totaled about 2.918 million tons, an increase of 68,000 tons from the total output in June, an increase of 2.40% month-on-month and an increase of 11.45% year-on-year. From January to July in 2021, the cumulative total output of stainless steel is about 19,743 million tons, a cumulative increase of 26.26% year-on-year.

At the beginning of July, the total output of stainless steel is expected to be about 3.1 million tons. However, in the middle of the month, the output of the steel industry did not exceed the news limit of last year's total output. The typhoon and rain in Henan area affected the production of some steel mills. At the end of the month, the electricity curtailment policy in Guangxi Implementation has prevented the actual output of stainless steel from increasing in July, which was a decrease of 180,000 tons from the expected level, but the actual output remained at a high level. Regardless of the system, the output of the 300 series is about 1.54 million tons, the output of the 200 series is about 876,000 tons, and the output of the 400 series is about 502,000 tons. Among them, the output of 200 series increased by 56,000 tons compared with June. The main reason was that a steel mill in southern China switched to normal carbon hot metal in June and did not produce 200 series stainless steel, but resumed normal production in July, resulting in an increase in the volume of 200 series stainless steel.

In August, the total output of stainless steel is expected to fall by about 118,000 tons, of which the 200 series will decrease by 76,000 tons to 800,000 tons, the 300 series will decrease by 51,000 tons to 1.489 million tons, and the 400 series will basically stabilize at about 510,000 tons. The decline in stainless steel production in August was mainly due to the electricity curtailment policy in Guangxi, which led to a decline in production. In terms of production restriction, although the output of the steel industry cannot exceed last year’s total, most stainless steel plants were in full production last year, and some steel plants also had steel production capacity, which can be converted during production reductions. Therefore, the production capacity of stainless steel is more limited. Small, new capacity will postpone the production plan. Under the current market conditions, the output of stainless steel may remain high in the later stage, but it is difficult to have a large increase.
